CLAINES-based trainer Dr Richard Newland saw his charge Theologist disappoint in the Fred Winter Juvenile Novices Handicap at Cheltenham today.
Newland felt his four-year-old had a good each-way chance in the penultimate race of day two of the Festival.
However, Theologist struggled and never troubled the leaders, coming home in 15th place as the 4-1 favourite Sanctuaire romped home to give Ruby Walsh his record-breaking 25th Festival winner.
Newland’s other horse Good Old Thyme was 14th out of 26 finishers in the Coral Cup.
Meanwhile, Big Zeb laid to rest his jumping demons with a flawless performance in the Seasons Holidays Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival — with Master Minded well beaten.
