WING wonders Amber Penrith and Kat Merchant have both been named in the England Women’s team to play France in the RBS 6 Nations championship decider at the Stade Vellodrome in Rennes, France tonight (7pm GMT).
The Worcester duo are joined in the starting XV by fellow Sixways ace Heather Fisher, while Karen Jones has dropped to the bench.
Meanwhile, there is also a strong Worcester influence in the England Women’s ‘A’ pack for tonight’s clash with France ‘A’, also at the Stade Vellodrome, (4.15pm GMT).
Prop Laura Keates and hooker Sam Reeve make up two-thirds of the front row, while Gemma Sharples also starts at openside flanker.
Sixways second row Jenny Brightmore and scrum-half Sarah Guest are among the replacements.
Head coach Mike Barnett is sticking to essentially the same core squad of players that won their last three matches.
They defeated Spain 10-5 and inflicted two wins on the Nomads, beating them 12-10 in February and then 26-7 last weekend.
