MALVERN College pupil Vicky Moritz is looking forward to the challenge of representing Worcestershire at the English Schools Cross-country Championships in Manchester tomorrow.
More than a thousand pupils from all over England take part in three different age groups.
Despite being one of the youngest in the intermediate age group, Moritz secured her spot with an excellent fourth in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Schools Championships at Bromsgrove last month.
She said: “I was really pleased with my performance at the county championships and my training has been going very well since so I am really looking forward to testing myself in this big schools event.”
Christina Boxer, triple Olympian and director of girls’ sport at Malvern College, is a former winner of the English Schools’ Cross-country Championships.
Boxer admitted: “I probably peaked a little early when I was 13 and 14 as I then struggled for a few years, so I am delighted Vicky is progressing steadily each year and is also balancing her academic studies and music so well with her athletics.”
