IF Worcester Warriors are to secure a first win against Bath in today's match at the Recreation Ground they may never have a better chance to do it.

Only relegated Leeds have a worse record than the West Country side at home this season.

And if Bath beat Warriors it will be the first time they have strung back-to-back victories together in front of their own fans for more than 12 months.

They have managed just 21 points from their 10 games at the Rec all season -- but did enjoy a 31-16 victory over local rivals Bristol in their last home match.

Worcester's director of rugby John Brain is hoping his side can produce some of the magic conjured up in last Saturday's 35-27 win over Newcastle.

"I think the players are looking forward to the game," said Brain. "There's no pressure, nothing on the game. It's just an opportunity to finish the season on a high with what would be a very good away win."

When the two sides met at Sixways on Boxing Day, Warriors were riding high in the league in fourth position but a 36-18 loss started a run of defeats which saw them tumbling down the table.

Since then, Bath have enjoyed a revival with Brian Ashton giving them more of an edge in attack to go with one of the most powerful packs in the country.

Brain added: "When Bath start to play, they play some good rugby and they have got a lot of quality.

"Their league position hasn't altered much (since Ashton's arrival). I don't think that they are fundamentally changed.

"I just think they have put a slightly different emphasis on their game. They are a little more adventurous."

Victory for Worcester could mean they finish as high as seventh in the league but there are three teams below them -- Newcastle, Bristol and Bath themselves -- who could all overtake them if they get the right result.

Worcester will also be looking for a victory to better last season's total of nine wins and improve on a ninth-place finish in their first season in the Premiership.
