UNBEATEN half centuries from Sam McNally and Simon Macey helped Worcester Old Elizabethans record a nine-wicket victory in their second division fixture at Pelsall.

McNally's 76 and Macey's 72 saw OEs knock off their target of 171 for the loss of only one wicket.

It was the north Worcester side who won the toss and they invited their hosts to bat first on a good-looking wicket.

James Brinkley (4-33) struck first when he caught Barton off his own bowling with the score on 15.

Eleven runs later, Jamie Alford (2-33) had the dangerous McPherson caught by wicket-keeping skipper Cairney.

Brinkley then claimed another two wickets in the space of just four overs and when Matt Sprague (1-26) bowled Pelsall captain Grainger, the home side looked to be in trouble at 61-5.

But 48 had been added for the sixth wicket when Clarke was trapped lbw by MacNally (1-38).

The tail gave creditable resistance, adding 50 runs for the last four wickets. Stuart Phillips (2-36) joined Brinkley and Alford in claiming the last wickets, as Pelsall were bowled out for 171 with five overs to spare.

With 60 overs available to reach their target, the OEs innings got off to a disappointing start when Boyle went cheaply.

But Macey was joined at the crease by overseas signing McNally and the pair batted sensibly and confidently.

The two compiled an unbeaten stand of 161, with the 100 partnership coming in just 91 minutes off 145 balls.

Macey's contribution of 72 came off 114 balls and McNally scored his 76 in just 102 balls.

The winning run was scored with 24 overs still remaining and sealed what proved to be a comprehensive win over the Walsall-based side.

Old Elizabethans now look forward to the visit of Dorridge on Saturday.

A lack-lustre performance saw OEs second XI well beaten by Ombersley.

The home side's top order played poorly and, at 39-5, were in deep trouble with 27 overs still left.

Andy Stephens came in to join Chris Hopwood (18) and the pair played sensibly to consolidate the innings with a partnership of 33.

Stephens went on to score an undefeated 74.

But he was unable to prevent Ombersley bowling his side out with five overs to spare.

Yelland and Tongue batted sensibly in reply for the visitors and their 68 opening stand was finally broken by the introduction of skipper Chris Dale (2-30) when he trapped Tongue lbw with a slower delivery.

Ombersley then took control of the match to win in the 49th over despite an unbeaten half-century from Sam O'Neil.

OEs third XI lost to Martley by three wickets.
