EDWIN Elmhirst was Worcester Athletic Club's only medal winner at the Midland Track and Field Championships.

He won silver in the under 17 men's high jump, with a leap of 1.85m equalling the personal best he set to win the county championships.

The other athletes from Worcester performed extremely well despite the wet conditions, almost all producing personal bests in their events.

Anais Finck ran a superb 300m race (under 17 women), finishing in a fantastic time of 42.11 seconds. She also jumped 4.81m in the long jump to finish in fifth place.

In her first year at under 17 level, Ellie Myhill ran a very creditable five minutes and 16.89 seconds in the 1500m.

In the under 15's, Genevieve Byers and Jenny White both ran in the highly competitive 100m races with White qualifying for the final and finishing seventh in a new personal best of 13 seconds dead.

White also ran in the 200m, finishing in fourth place, but was pleased with another personal best of 26.6 seconds.

Gen Byers, who has another year in the under 15 age-group, jumped a new personal best of 4.64m in the long jump to finish in seventh place.

The athletes involved will now go forward to the county schools championships later this month.
