WORCESTER City ABC's Sean Smith recorded his first fight win with victory over Lye's Alan Whittington.

Boxing in his third contest, Smith started the stronger, firing stiff jabs to halt the oncoming Whittington.

Double jabs and straight rights from Smith saw him claim the first round.

The second was a more muted affair with both boxers moving around the ring without throwing any punches. Into the third, Smith pressured from the start and soon had Whittington against the ropes with heavy head shots.

But instead of finishing his opponent, he stepped back and allowed the fighter time to recover.

The last 30 seconds saw Smith, spurred on by travelling support, stagger the Lye boxer with a hard right.

This prompted the ref to give a standing count, but as soon as the bout recommenced the bell sounded.

Smith needs to push himself harder and not cruise through bouts if he is going to continue winning.

Lightweight Kofil Ahmed produced his best boxing to date during the first round against James Hill of Cradley.

Using good footwork and sharp punches, he controlled the centre of the ring.

As the bout progressed, Ahmed lost his shape and became untidy, which allowed Hill to score with some cleaner punches.

The more accurate punching from Hill impressed the judges enough to award him the fight with a decision on a majority verdict.
