WORCESTERSHIRE Over 60s took on their Berkshire counterparts at Ombersley and clinched a thilling two-wicket victory.

Berkshire won the toss and elected to bat as Worcestershire took to the field in their first home match of the season.

Marin Mudway and Graham Thorne restricted the Berkshire openers to 16 runs off 11 overs before rain forced proceedings to a halt with a prolonged delay and an early tea.

The match was reduced to 40 overs per side and on the resumption Martin Woodward bowled Bryan to claim the first wicket.

Bob Deaves was introduced into the attack and took two wickets in his first over and, with Cobb needlessly running himself out for 18, the visitors slumped to 31-4.

Runs continued to be hard to come by as Berkshire eventually stumbled to 95 all out in the final over with Deaves finishing with 3-21 and John Shepherd 3-30.

Mudway returned to the attack to polish off the tail with 2-11. Roger Price took three smart stumpings with Clive Lindsay (26) top scoring for the visitors.

Despite losing Bob Rogers for 10, the home side looked set for an easy victory with the score at 42-1 but Buckinghamshire had other ideas as Shepherd (17), Keith Mid-dleton and Brian Scott (16 each) all started well but fell to the leg-spin of visitors' captain Dan Cryer.

John Brookes (10) and top scorer Roger Price (22) brought the scores level before three wickets fell at 95 to turn an easy victory into a scramble for the last run, ably taken by Martin Woodward to give the home team their slender win.
