KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have pulled off a transfer coup by snapping up former Leicester City and Wolves striker Dean Sturridge.
The 32-year-old, who most recently played in the Championship with Queen's Park Rangers last season, has signed a one-year deal at Aggborough.
Harriers manager Mark Yates was delighted with his high profile capture and he said: "I have been in touch with Dean for a number of weeks now -- in fact I first made contact about trying to sign him last season. He turned down lots of offers to come here and we are delighted to have signed him.
"He has got nothing to prove having done it at the top level of English football. Hopefully we will see a fit Dean Sturridge scoring lots of goals for Kidderminster Harriers.
"I have three strikers here -- Dean, Luke Reynolds and Andy White -- who I think will score goals and I am quietly confident we can make a challenge at the right end of the table this season.
"The squad is shaping up nicely at the moment and there will be a few more signings soon."
Sturridge began his career in 1991 with Derby County. The frontman was then the subject of a big-money move in 2001 when Leicester paid County £350,000. He then went to Wolves and signed for QPR in March of last year, playing 11 games.
