WORCESTERSHIRE mountain bike trials cyclist Matt Burrows is celebrating after having been selected to ride for Halfords Development Squad.

This is the first year that Halfords, the UK's leading retailer of cycles and accessories, is sponsoring the Worcester rider.

Selected from hundreds of in-store and head office staff, he is one of just seven cycle specialists selected to ride for Halfords Development Squad this season.

Taken from a team of cross-country, downhill, BMX and time trial specialists to name but a few, Burrow's main area of expertise lies within mountain bike trials.

He has set his sights on the upcoming British National Championships later this season.

Feeling very confident about the forthcoming season, Burrows said: "My aim for this season is to try and finish in the top five in the National Championships.

"I also hope to be seeded into the `Master' category for the 2007 season."

As a Halfords Development Squad rider, Burrows has received a race-ready bike, race kit, British Cycling gold membership and licence, plus entry into races.

To catch Burrows in action, check out rounds one, two, three and four of the British National Championships.
