A QUARTET of Worcester Ladies players have made the grade for England Women’s head coach Gary Street’s World Cup squad.

Heather Fisher, Kat Merchant, Amber Penrith and Danielle Waterman have all won call-ups for the hotly-anticipated Women’s Rugby World Cup 2010 (WRWC) on home soil this summer.

With just over three months to go until the world’s best 12 teams in women’s rugby battle it out, Street has named an experienced line-up which boasts more than 700 caps.

Street, whose side are ranked second for the WRWC, said: “I believe we have selected an experienced, skilful and adaptable squad who can do the job at the very highest level.”

The WRWC kicks-off on August 20 when England open their campaign against Ireland, before pool games against Kazakhstan and the USA.

The semis and final take place on September 1 and 5 at the Twickenham Stoop.

Meanwhile, England Women under 20s will be looking to end their season on a high note with victory over Wales at Taffs Well RFC on Sunday (2pm).

Worcester’s Sophie Watkiss starts on the left wing after being promoted from the bench, while Amy Millar has been named at lock.
