WORCESTER Rowing Club enjoyed a successful day at the biggest one-day regatta in England.

Wallingford Regatta is held over 2000 metres on Dorney Lake, Eton, the venue for the 2012 Olympic event.

In the women’s intermediate level three coxed four event, Vic Coultas, Sarah Graham, Cathy Philips, Laura Moran and cox Charlotte Wooton qualified for the final in second place behind St Edward’s School.

The final saw the Worcester crew step up the pace to win by a length, pushing St Edward’s into second place and Marlow BC into third.

The women’s four now have their sights set on winning the intermediate coxed four trophy at Henley Women’s Regatta next month.

Sara Nemeh-Garcia, Michelle Hodgkins, Gina Packwood and Kate Lewington-Williams competed in the intermediate level one coxed four, finishing sixth in their straight final.

Ellen Winter and Claire Crozier tackled the intermediate single sculls.

Crozier qualified for the final easily but lacked race sharpness in the final after an 18-month break and finished fifth overall. The second win came from the men’s intermediate level one coxless four in one of the most exciting races.

The winning crew consisted of Jed Greenhouse, Steve Hemsworth, Shaun Fisher and Oli Davies with all six crews separated by just six seconds.

Worcester took the victory by just 0.23 of a second with their second four in third place.
