RELEASED Worcester City player Craig Wilding has dropped down a division to join ambitious Leamington.

The Zamaretto League Premier Division club swooped for the experienced Wilding, who featured in attack and midfield for City.

Carl Heeley admitted releasing Wilding was one of the toughest decisions of his management career with Worcester.

The 28-year-old did not always have the City fans on his side but Heeley praised the former Chesterfield and York City player’s attitude as first-class.

Leamington boss Paul Holleran said: “I have agreed a deal with Craig and am delighted to have gained a player of his pedigree.

“He has quality, experience and is the right age.

“I believe he has a hunger to succeed with Leamington and will be a good signing for the club both on and off the field.

“He will bring something different to the team and can play up front or in midfield.”

Wilding joined City in 2006 from Worcestershire rivals Redditch United.

Worcester have seven players signed up for next season as well as putting in a contract offer for AFC Telford midfielder Kevin O’Connor.
