WORCESTER City Women will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers next season after gaining back-to-back promotions.

The team have won promotion to the Midland Combination after securing the West Midlands Premier title.

The success comes just 12 months after the club won the Division One South title and are now just two levels below the Premier League.

Manager Graham Abercrombie said: “These things don’t happen every year so we need to savour the moment and let it all sink in. I am very proud of them.

“I knew what they were capable of, it was just getting the players to believe it.

“This season has been a big jump, it’s been a massive change in standard and I am expecting the same, if not bigger, next year.”

Captain Vicky Andrews added: “I’m chuffed for the girls, it was a slog but we deserved it. It was a close league and the table doesn’t lie.

“We just wanted to establish ourselves in the league and we’ve gone one better.”
