WORCESTER-born Nathan Baker hopes to keep his place for England’s next game in the European Under 19s Championships on Wednesday (5pm).
They face Holland in Bayeux, France, after beating Austria 3-2 in their opening Group ‘A’ clash at the eight-team finals.
Aston Villa centre-half Baker, 19, started the match as England led 2-0 at half-time thanks to two goals from West Ham’s Frank Nouble before an Austrian fightback.
But a similar result against the Dutch will more than likely be enough to see them through to the last four.
“It’ll be a tough game,” said head coach Noel Blake.
“We know what Holland are about and they know what we are about. We played them in February and drew 1-1 over there.”
Blake’s team complete their group fixtures against hosts France, who beat Holland 4-1 in their opener, on Saturday (5pm).
England finished runners-up in the final of the 2009 tournament but Baker, who enjoyed first-team experience on loan at Lincoln City last season, missed the competition due to injury.
