KIDDERMINSTER Harriers manager Steve Burr is excited by the group of players he has put together at Aggborough as they prepare to host Mansfield Town in the Blue Square Bet Premier tomorrow (3pm).

Despite their 4-3 defeat to newly-promoted Southport on Tuesday, Burr said he could not fault the effort or commitment of his players.

“Having looked at the video again, I could only say that we were at fault for one of the goals,” said the Harriers boss.

“For the neutral, it was a cracking game but that is no consolation when you have lost.

“However, there have been a lot of positives to take out of the opening two games of the season.

“The commitment and effort is very pleasing.

“As a group, we don’t fear anyone and I’m quite excited about the season ahead.”

But Burr knows his side face another tough fixture in hosting David Holdsworth’s Stags tomorrow.

Mansfield, like Harriers, have won one and lost one in the opening week, going down 3-0 at Fleetwood Town in mid-week, but harbour ambitions of returning to the Football League.

Burr is likely to be without striker Lee Morris for the weekend after he limped off at half-time in the 2-1 win at York City last Saturday with a hamstring injury.

But he has been pleased with how new loan hit-man Marc Williams has settled in since joining from Wrexham on Monday.

“There hasn’t been much of a change with Lee so I’ll probably leave him until Tuesday for the Wrexham match — Marc cannot play in that game,” Burr said.

“Marc has settled in well, came off the bench and scored a goal. We’ll have to wait and see if he plays tomorrow.”
