THE Worcestershire League under 19s representative side have picked up impressive back-to-back victories.

The county youngsters saw off their Staffordshire counterparts by seven wickets, before sealing a five-wicket triumph over rivals Warwickshire.

In the Warwickshire match, the Worcestershire outfit skittled out their hosts for just 110 in 34.3 overs.

They then knocked off the total in just 25 overs for the loss of five wickets.

Warwickshire won the toss and decided to bat. After the early loss of Sadler, McCarthy (29) and Brown (24) compiled a stand of 40. That was to be the highest partnership of the match.

Worcester’s captain Jack Mills, of Bewdley, who was playing his final match at this level, took a fine catch to dismiss McCarthy as the hosts collapsed to 62-6.

A recovery ensued between Shah and Bates before Kidderminster Victoria’s Jarman Rudd had the latter well caught by Odge Davey, of Colwall.

Tom Farquharson, of Kidderminster Victoria, and Mills then quickly wrapped up the Warwickshire League’s innings for 110.

Worcestershire lost Tom Pedley (Astwood Bank) and Sam Roberts (Worcester Nomads) to the pace of Warwickshire’s opening attack.

After Davey was out LBW, the visitors were 16-3 and facing defeat.

However, the stage was set for man-of-the-match Alex Biddle (Stourbridge) and he saw his side home with 59 not out from 50 balls.

In the match against the Staffordshire League under 19s at Halesowen, the Worcestershire bowlers again set up another convincing victory.

Staffordshire skipper Todd Henderson won the toss and decided to bat on an overcast afternoon.

Worcester’s Matt Walters (1-37) and Biddle (3-23) put the home side in a commanding position.

Wickets fell steadily until Staffs were 98-8 after 36 overs as they were unable to cope with the turn of Josh Banks (Stourbridge, 2-35) and Mills (4-28).

The visitors’ last three batsmen — Tonks, Knight and Abbas — battled hard to help their side post 148 all out in the final over.

In reply, Banks (63) and Roberts (51 not out) took the game away from Staffordshire with a brutal partnership of 104.

At the end, against a tiring bowling attack, Roberts was joined by Davey, who plundered 17 not out from just seven balls to secure the victory.
