WORCESTER Rowing Club members added another two wins ahead of their autumn sprint regatta on Saturday.

There will be a grand turn-out for the annual event on the River Severn held from the railway bridge upstream from 9.30am and finishing at the club’s training centre.

Worcester’s Gerald Harris, David Birtwhistle, Steve Harries, Barry Jones and cox Amelia Sutcliffe put on their finest display of the season to win the masters ‘F’ coxed four event at Ross Regatta.

The Worcester four beat Monmouth convincingly by three-and-a-half lengths in the semis.

The final saw them take revenge over Bedford, who had beaten the city crew four times already this season, with a two-thirds-of-a-length success.

Worcester’s other win came at Gloucester Regatta in the masters ‘A’ single sculls event.

Claire Crozier made light work of her Bedford opponent in the first round.

She repeated the feat in the semi and final against two scullers from Warwick to take home the title.

Crozier also competed in the women’s elite single sculls against Olympian and current Great Britain quad scull member Beth Rodford from Gloucester.

The Worcester rower gave her all to lead from the start but Rodford powered past half-way down the course to win by three lengths.
