HEREFORD United could turn to new striker Amadou Rabihou at Burton Albion tomorrow as they bid to end their goal drought.
The Bulls head to the Pirelli Stadium (3pm) having managed just one goal this season when defender Janos Kovacs scored in the 1-0 victory at Crewe on the opening day.
Since then, they have failed to find the net in npower League Two with defeats to Rotherham United (1-0) and Chesterfield (4-0) as well as a 0-0 stalemate with Gillingham.
Manager Simon Davey feels his team deserve more for their efforts but knows they are long overdue a goal.
Following the signing of Cameroon striker Rabihou until the end of December, the Bulls boss may now opt to rest Stuart Fleetwood or Sean Canham.
Fellow forwards Mathieu Manset and Sam Malsom are unlikely to be fit having not trained since sustaining hamstring and knee ligament injuries respectively.
Former AC Milan and Sturm Graz player Rabihou impressed during a trial at Edgar Street which saw him score in a reserve match against Coventry City.
Davey said: “We need goals and have to find the right recipe, whether that’s sticking with the ones who are in there or taking them out of the firing line.
“I have a chance to do that this weekend with Amadou so that’s one possibility. It would have been nice to have five strikers to pick from but at the moment it looks like three.
“We are only four games into the season and I have belief in the five strikers that they will score goals.”
He added: “Our performances have not matched our results over the last few games.
“I would be happier if the results had been more positive but I am still happy.
“The level of play in the second-half against Rotherham was what we want, we just couldn’t put the icing on the cake. We need to start converting our chances.”
Left-sided player Dominik Werling, signed on transfer deadline day, could be involved but replacement keeper Dan Connor is out.
He is waiting for the results of an MRI scan after being hospitalised by a groin problem, meaning coach Russell Hoult or club sports scientist Tom Whittaker will sit on the bench.
Burton defender Aaron Webster, 29, is set to make his 500th appearance for the Brewers, becoming only the fifth player in the club’s history to achieve the feat.
Midfielder Adam Bolder misses the game after sustaining a dislocated shoulder in last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham.
