OLD Elizabethans secured a crushing win over Tamworth to leaves themselves with a chance to win promotion to the Birmingham League Division One for the first time in their history.

The visitors elected to bat first on a dry-looking wicket but Charlie Griffiths (4-22), Liam Booth (3-28) and Richard Illingworth (3-29) ensured that Tamworth were dismissed for just 99.

The OEs reply got off to a solid start with Simon Macey and Jamie Boyle putting on 60 for the opening wicket.

Boyle was eventually bowled by Nield for 25 as the hosts still required another 40 runs for victory.

But Macey went on to complete an unbeaten 51 for OEs as they secured a maximum 24 points over Tamworth with a nine-wicket success.

The Memorial Ground side now must gain another maximum point success at Berkswell to ensure promotion to Division One.
