CHRIS McPhee’s goal ensured Harriers ended a winless run of six matches and earned a much-needed victory at Altrincham.

The 80th minute penalty was enough for Harriers to pick up a crucial victory which moved them out of the Blue Square Bet Premier’s bottom four.

While McPhee and Callum Gittings bagged the vital goals, keeper Danny Lewis was the hero for the Aggborough outfit, with a string of fine saves to keep bottom side Altrincham at bay.

New boy Ollie Thorne made his Harriers debut alongside Michael Briscoe in central defence, while Burr was without striker Marc Williams as he was on international duty with Wales’ Under 21s.

The away side survived a scare two minutes into the game, with a combination of Briscoe and keeper Lewis keeping out James McCarthy's rising goalbound effort.

But after that Harriers laid siege to Altrincham’s goal without creating any clear openings.

Nick Wright created an opening in the 15th minute, doing well to control Tom Shaw’s accurated long ball, before bamboozling right-back Michael Welch. The hitman delivered a cross, which McPhee could not convert at the near post.

For all their neat build-up play, Harriers lacked cutting edge up front. McPhee should have done better in the 25th minute when Morris found him in the box, but the forward was slow to react and allowed Rob Williams to win the ball.

In the dying minutes of the first-half, the away side turned up the heat. Jack Byrne saw a fine right-footed low effort fly wide.

The breakthrough finally came in the 71st minute for Kidderminster with substitute Gittings firing his side when he converted Matt Blair’s cross.

Altrincham substitute Damian Reeves levelled the scores in the 74th minute, firing the ball into the back of the net, after Lewis had done well to block the striker's first effort.

Harriers continued to search and took the lead again in the 80th minute from the penalty spot. Byrne’s rising shot hit James Smith on the hand and McPhee sent the keeper the wrong way to slot home the spot-kick.

Lewis was the hero for Harriers in the 87th minute, rushing out of his area to deny McCarthy as he strode into the box. The keeper again came to the rescue again, tipping Densmore’s effort over.

There was still time for one last twist in the fourth minute of time added on, but McCarthy blazed over the bar from 10-yards out, as Harriers held on for their second win of the season.
