WORCESTER City Suppor-ters’ Club fear they will be forced to stop coaches for away games if numbers do not improve.
The club currently organises travel to City’s matches around the country but have seen interest dwindle since the team’s switch to Blue Square Bet North because of more local matches.
Fans are now making their own way to games, which hits the group’s coffers hard and means they suffer a loss and cannot subsidise the longer trips.
They have already had to cancel plans for Saturday’s trek to Blyth Spartans be-cause of the situation.
If the trend continues, vice-chariman Keith Chambers reckons the travel could cease within two years.
He said: “ Naturally, people are travelling to the local games such as Stafford in their own vehicles or lifts.
“This creates problems when you get games like Blyth where the cost of a 16-seater is £500 and, even if we filled it, we would still lose around £200.
“We need support on closer trips to reduce deficit on others or we won’t be able to finance longer trips.
“We won’t be able to run trips within two years if we run at huge losses and people don’t understand the costs today.”
