ENGLAND fly-half Andy Goode will make his full Worcester Warriors debut against Rotherham at Sixways on Saturday (3pm) as head coach Richard Hill shuffles his half-back options.

Former Leicester and Brive stand-off Goode will line up alongside scrum-half Andy Williams, who will also be making his first competitive start for the club, with academy-produced duo Jonny Arr and Joe Carlisle dropping to the replacements bench.

Prop Adam Black will be drafted into the 22-man squad as Tevita Taumoepeau has been given the weekend off to attend a family wedding, while veterans Pat Sanderson (cracked rib) and Craig Gillies (ankle ligaments) are still sidelined.

Sixways boss Hill said: “Hopefully, the team can begin to settle into the season now and be a little more confident with themselves.

“We’ll be making just the one change to the 22 — Tevita has got a family wedding to go to. At this stage of the season, I can afford to let him go — it would be a bit different later in the season.

“There will be one or two different starters with a number of people coming in off the bench. Andy Goode and Andy Williams will be starting at half-back after their introductions as replacements in the last two games.”

He added: “Pat is almost there — he’s not training with the group as yet, but we hope next week he will be able to start doing that. He won’t be available this weekend and next weekend against Esher is unlikely too, but not impossible.

“He’s cracked a rib after getting a hefty knock in pre-season. It’s one of those things, he’s fine apart from that but has to let it heal.

“Craig will possibly be fit for Esher but, because of our strong lock situation, I don’t have to take a risk with him. If he trains with us next week, he’ll be in contention.”
