SUPERB Harriers produced their best display of the season to beat Blue Square Bet Premier high-fliers AFC Wimbledon.

Goals for Chris McPhee and Marc Williams put the finishing touches to a fine performance by the home side, who extended their unbeaten run to six games.

Steve Burr’s side were good value for a win against a side who had only three days previously defeated big money title hopefuls Crawley.

Harriers started brightly and Dave Hankin’s cross had to be tipped over by keeper Seb Brown.

Moments later, Jack Byrne directed a header over from Lee Vaughan’s centre.

Lee Morris showed a good turn of pace to race down the right and send in a low ball but Wimbledon’s keeper pounced as McPhee slid in.

Harriers keeper Danny Lewis was called into action by Chris Bush’s 20-yard effort.

But the away side struggled to create chances against a defence well marshalled by Ollie Thorne.

Harriers continued to look more likely to score and Keith Briggs saw a good chance in the 35th minute go wide.

McPhee’s header flew over the bar after a well-worked training ground move.

But the hosts took a deserved lead in the 44th minute.

Morris was set free down the right, cut inside and slipped the ball to McPhee, who made no mistake with a firm, low shot.

Wimbledon’s keeper produced heroics, diving to turn Thorne’s header behind, but Harriers doubled their lead in the 83rd minute.

Williams raced onto fellow sub Matty Blair’s pass and, despite seeing his initial shot blocked, he chased down the loose ball and turned it into the back of the net.

Harriers: Lewis; Vaughan, Briscoe, Thorne, Mike Williams; Hankin (Blair 74), Briggs, Byrne, Gittings; Morris (Marc Williams 76), McPhee. Subs not used: Shaw, Albrighton, Stevens.
