ANDY Preece has heralded George Clegg's contribution to Worcester City's 3-3 thriller with Nuneaton Borough.

Clegg set St George's Lane alight with two delightful left-foot free-kicks as the hosts came from behind twice for a point in Monday night's Nationwide North clash.

The 25-year-old, who served his apprenticeship at Man-chester United when David Beckham was making his name as a dead-ball specialist, left Nuneaton stopper Darren Acton helpless with a strike in each half.

City manager Preece said: "They were excellent strikes which gave the goalkeeper no chance in either corner.

"We needed the first goal to get us back in the game. They were real strikes of quality.

"George was at Manchester United as a young lad and he's technically very good.

"I am delighted with his strikes and it's nice to see him fit because he had problems at the beginning of the season when he was out injured.

"I expect him to get more goals."

City held a board meeting last night where all the evidence from their internal inquiry regarding the Kidder-minster Harriers friendly was due to be presented.

A pre-season match between the two sides descended into farce on Saturday, August 5, when Harriers manager Mark Yates led his players from the pitch with 19 minutes left following an alleged incident in the dressing room during the second-half.

Worcester chairman Dave Boddy hopes to announce the findings in a statement later today.

Meanwhile, manager Preece claims he was the subject of racial abuse from Barrow supporters during City's 1-0 victory last Saturday.

The incident was reported to officials at the Cumbrian club and the City boss expects that to be the end of the matter.
