ALTHOUGH the conditions were quite trying, there was still plenty of good golf in evidence when Bransford seniors entertained their counterparts from Little Lakes in the latest winter league fixture.

Home advantage just about told in the end after a series of close matches in which the players had to contend with heavy ground in places and gusting winds that grew in strength in the latter stages of the match.

Bransford eventually collected the points with a 4-2 win.

The scores were (Bransford names first): Neil Sheldon and Bill Bowen beat John Leigh and John Draper 3&1.

Mike Davidge and Alan Wallcroft halved with Phil Smith and Phil Hobby.

Jeff Thomas and Stan Parnell lost to Doug Christian and Trevor Beresford 3&2.

Harry Godwin and Robin Brighton beat Ray Robinson and Colin Forester 2&1.

Malcolm Bradley and Tony Robinson beat Rob Wilding and Frank Wheatcroft 3&1.

Adrian Wood and Peter Harrison halved with John Egan and Al Brown.

Meanwhile, John Burrows claimed a four-shot victory in Division One of the delayed seniors’ December medal.

In Division Two, Mark Allen prevailed by a narrow one-shot margin.

The leading scores were (Division One): 1 John Burrow (95-18-77); 2 Ferey Ghani (96-15-81); 3 Dave Houghton (97-13-84).

Division Two: 1 Mark Allen (106-28-78); 2 Andrew Cooper (101-22-79); 3 Paul Edlin (107-26-81); 4 Eddie McLaughlin (104-23-81); 5 Adrian Wood (104-23-81).

n Ravenmeadow Golf Club have revised one of the dates for the Modus Creative ‘nine at night’ league.

Last time out, the players trialled a foursomes format, but it was decided that made scoring too difficult, so the round was declared void and another date was added to the schedule.

Revised fixture list: Round three: Wednesday, February 23; Round four: Wednesday, March 2; Round five: Wednesday, March 16.
