WORCESTER City go in search of their fourth successive victory tonight when they host Hyde at St George’s Lane (7.45).

Carl Heeley’s team have already recorded back-to-back Blue Square Bet North home wins this month —having beaten both Boston United and Stalybridge Celtic — and progressed to the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup final.

Now they have the chance to continue their good run of form against a team they defeated 2-0 in October and move into the league’s top 10.

Heeley wanted six points from the Stalybridge and Hyde clashes and he is half-way to achieving that following Marc McGregor’s last-gasp winner against Celtic on Saturday.

But, although they are languishing in 18th place, the City manager is not expecting an easy ride from the Manchester-based side following their win and draw against league leaders Nuneaton Town.

Heeley said: “They’re two big games for us and gives us an opportunity to get back-to-back wins and establish ourselves firmly in the top half of the table.

“That’s the intention and we’ve done the first bit but we need to try and back that up tonight against Hyde. We are not going to take anything for granted, Hyde have recently taken four points off Nuneaton so they’re no mugs.

“They are going to have a right go and are scrapping for points. They have been down at the bottom of the league most of the season but have had some decent results in the last couple of weeks.

“We are going to be wary of them but we’re doing OK ourselves. All I’m concerned about is how we do things. If we do the things that we’re capable of and we show the level of commitment that we have shown in the last two league games, then I can’t ask for any more than that.”

Defender Tom Evans could miss out after he suffered an ankle injury against Stalybridge and Neil Cart-wright is a doubt with his back complaint. Keeper Dean Coleman plays his last match before serving a one-game ban.

Heeley added: “We’ll assess the injury situation and see where we are. We’ll pick a side to try and win the game, but if anyone is fatigued and needs to come out then we’ll take that into consideration.”
