DEAN Coleman is hoping that in Worcester City he has finally found the club to relaunch his career.

Having spent three years in the professional game with Kidderminster Harriers, the 25-year-old has been forced to adjust to life in the part-time ranks following his release from Aggborough last summer.

It has not been a comfortable transition with the former Walsall youngster enduring a stop-start few mon-ths during the current campaign.

A brief spell at Halesowen Town ended amid financial turmoil at the Zamaretto League Premier Division outfit and he left Redditch United last month with the Valley Stadium side facing a similar cash crisis.

That prompted City boss Carl Heeley to recruit Coleman for his experience at a time when Stoke teenager Dave Parton’s future was uncertain and first-choice keeper Tim Sandercombe had been ruled out for the season.

Now Coleman is aiming to show he is good enough to return to the full-time arena at some point in the future.

He said: “Coming out of full-time football and back into part-time is always a difficult step but I have just kept my head down and hopefully things can change and I can get back up to where I need to be.

“It’s my third move this season and all I want to do is get my head down and play good football and hopefully take a few steps towards going full-time again.”

Coleman continued: “I en-ded up having a double hernia operation half-way through the season at Kidder-minster, but then a few things were said that didn’t go down too well so I knew there wasn’t going to be anything for me there.

“I had a few trials at other clubs but nothing ever came of it so I ended up playing part-time football again.

“I was at Halesowen but there was a bit of a dispute, and the club was struggling with financial difficulties, so it was the right move for me to get away from there.

“I got on well with Matt Gardiner, the manager at Redditch then, and he just advised me to leave the club because of the financial difficulties. I know Carl from playing previously with him at Bromsgrove and we just got speaking again and I ended up coming down to Worcester.”

In his first four games for City, starting at Gloucester on January 26, Coleman kept two clean sheets against Boston United and Stalybridge Celtic.

He is suspended for Saturday’s trip to league leaders Nuneaton Town, following a red card against Boston for handling outside his area, but is looking for his colleagues to record a victory.

The keeper said: “I was disappointed at being sent off, it’s the first red card I’ve had during my career, but sometimes you have to take it.

“Hopefully, on Saturday the lads can get another three points.”
