THE top of the table clash in Worcester and District Football League Sunday Division Two saw visitors KGV Worcester come from 3-2 down to beat leaders AA Chequers 5-3.

In a highly entertaining match, KGV’s scorers were Nathan Owen (2), Matt Upton, Ben Uren and John Mann. Chequers replied through Adam Beresford, Lee King and Wayne Lloyd.

Elsewhere, Old Vigornians thrashed Goodrest Juniors 9-1 with Julius Baghdadi, Luke Turner and Richard Wilkes all scoring twice, while Gary Jones and Matt Rendall bagged braces as GDL beat Droitwich RBL 4-0.

In the Premier Division, Powick continued their recent run of good form with a 4-1 win at Crowle, Stuart Harvey notching a double.

Max Allen netted four times for Nelson, who crushed VFC Keyz 9-0 in Division Three, and Craig Collins grabbed both goals as Division Four leaders West Malvern TC beat Malvern Rangers ‘A’ 2-0.

The second round of the Katherine Rayer Cup saw Heenans crush Callow End 14-2. Jamie Insall set a club record by finding the net 11 times. Chris Cornes added a brace with Lawrence Roberts grabbing both Callow End goals.

Mazak and Martley Spurs Reserves were all square at 5-5 after extra-time with Joe Leighton and Geoff Brown both bagging two for Mazak.

Martley won the penalty shoot-out 5-4 to go through to the quarter-finals.

In the Bernard Finnegan Cup, a nine-goal thriller at Blackpole Sports saw the home team beat Nunnery Wood Colts ‘A’ 5-4.

George Martin cracked a hat-trick as VBL Sports thumped Perrywood Reserves 6-1. There were two goals each for Gavin Holloway and Rick Holloway in Worcester City Wanderers 4-2 win over Westside.

In the Saturday Division, leaders Powick scraped home 2-1 at Northway, while Marc Burrow and Gordie Beauchamp both bagged two goals as VBL Sports won 4-2 at Worcester Raiders.

Matt Brooke and Daniel Burns of University of Worcester were also two-goal heroes as they hammered YM Rangers 8-2.

Other doubles came from Kev Tyler of West Malvern TC, who beat Worcester Anchors 5-0, and Chris Parker in Newtown Sports’ narrow 3-2 victory against Malvern Town Reserves.
