THE thriving juniors’ section at Droitwich Golf Club held its annual meeting, where Roman Croft was announced as the 2011 captain.

To mark the occasion, the Ford Lane club’s juniors held a nine-hole Texas scramble competition.

The day was well attended with many juniors entering the tournament.

When all the scores were in, the the winning golfers were Harriet Matthews, Seb Newman, Harrison Prew, George Mills, Croft, Brandon Sarfo and Connor Thomas.

After the day’s golfing action, Linda Whitehead, the club’s junior chairman, welcomed youngsters and their parents to the annual meeting.

During the meeting, Croft said he was looking forward to a successful year for the Droitwich team.

The team will be helped by Adam Whiting, the assistant professional at Droitwich, who will be giving lessons and advice to the juniors.

Meanwhile, the postponed captain v chairman competition finally took place.

The 18-hole fourball-betterball competiton commenced at 9am with 17 matches to decide the winning team.

After the team selection by the captain and the chairman, everybody set off with all to play for.

At the half-way stage, the score was even. However, the captain’s team managed to edge ahead over the last few holes to win two-up.
