OUR Pro40 win over Kent was enjoyed by a big crowd at New Road and the game swung in several different directions -- it was a classical one-day game, full of wondering about who would win.

Thankfully we held our nerve at the end. There were plenty of positives for us in that game, especially the partnership between Lou Vincent and Vikram Solanki and Zaheer Khan's fantastic all-round performance.

In a normal one-day game, once you've finished the first 15 overs you feel as though you have got lots of time, but that is not case in Pro40. If you're not careful it can catch you out when chasing a score simply because you have fewer overs.

They needed six-an-over for a while, but we managed to keep it tight and going into the last few overs the run-rate had crept up to eight or nine an over.

Towards the end of Kent's innings, we started to field better and really played as a unit which made things difficult for them.

You don't always want to play that type of nerve-jangling cricket. We would rather win convincingly, but we won.

We have won two Pro40 games on the bounce now and are looking to build up some momentum towards the end of the season.

With Kabir Ali, we felt he was under-bowled after his injury so we decided to leave him out. We are taking him to Headingley today and we will see how he is when we've practiced up there.

It can be difficult coming back from an injury, but I'm sure he'll soon be back in the groove.

Ben Smith should be fine to play after missing the Kent game. He slipped on the greasy surface in the warm-up and jarred his back.

Steve Davies has done excellently with the bat in four-day cricket, but some people might find it strange that he hasn't had the same successes in the one-day format.

We have been working on Davo's one-day gameplan -- he is still learning his trade.

The two forms of cricket can be very different, he is still only 20 and we can cover for his mistakes with the quality players around him. But he is going to become a fantastic cricketer.

Also, it is true that we have chatted with Moeen Ali about the possibility of him playing for Worcestershire and we are awaiting a reply.

It was also good to see Nadeem Malik hold his nerve in the last over against kent, just like Roger Sillence did at Edgbaston in the Twenty20 game.

Both of these players are getting more and more experienced, which is good news for the squad.
