SHAW Pye won the Peopleton Duathlon, the first event of the year for Worcester Triathlon Club.

Pye completed the course — comprising a seven kilometre run, 29km cycle and a second run of 3.5km — in one hour, 18 minutes, 35 seconds.

The Kidderminster competitor, a member of the town’s Amazing Feet Running Club, was closely followed by Luke Moseley in second (1.19.06) and third-placed Joshua Varney (1.21.38).

Michelle Parsons once again dominated the female field, racing as part of her continued preparation for the Powerman USA event at the end of the month.

Parsons confidently left runner-up Paula Moseley in her wake at the start of the second run to come home in a time of 1.27.35.

Stratford’s Alison Bagnall was third.

Organised by veteran duathlete and Peopleton resident Les Bailey, the event attracted a strong field who were unfortunate to be greeted with light drizzle for the start of the race.

Worcester Triathlon Club’s newest member Iain Jennings produced a great performance to finish fourth in 1.21.49, holding off close friend Danny Harris, from Evesham, who finished fifth in 1.22.08.

The relay category was won by the local farmers’ group.
