RICHARD Hill slammed the behaviour of Nottingham hooker Tom Youngs after Warriors captain Kai Horstmann was left with a nasty gash to his head during the 44-13 Championship play-off Pool ‘A’ victory.

The Green and Whites front-rower, who is the brother of England and Leicester Tigers scrum-half Ben, piled into the Worcester number eight as tempers flared near the touchline.

While Sixways head coach Hill has yet to decide if the club will pursue the matter, he was less than impressed with Youngs’ involvement.

He said: “It was right in front of me, so I had a good view of it.

“It was a nasty incident and I wasn’t happy with that at all. Kai was not best pleased for obvious reasons.

“We’ll have another look at it — even though I don’t need to as I know exactly what went on — and we’ll have a think about what we do about it but it was an act of foul play, no question at all.

“It immediately opened up a gash on Kai’s forehead and a lot of blood came out.”

Hill added: “I’ve never looked to take further action on something like that, so I don’t know if we’ll do anything, but we will have another look at it.

“I think, when you’re from the old school like me, that used to go on 10 times a game so I was brought up along the lines of you give it and you take it.

“It was particularly unpleasant for Kai, but he’s a sensible man and I had a little word with him just before he went back on. It is very easy to go hunting someone for retribution but he kept his cool.

“There was certainly a bit more spice when Youngs took the ball into contact, though, with one or two of the boys wanting to hit him hard.

“I think Nottingham then took him off in the second-half to avoid him getting in any more trouble.”
