EVESHAM United manager Paul West has warned his side to keep their feet on the ground after a convincing mid-week win.

The Robins thrashed Sutton Coldfield Town 4-1 in Southern League division one midlands at their adopted St George's Lane home on Tuesday.

That success complemented Evesham's 1-1 draw at Rothwell last weekend as West's side kept up their good start to the season.

But the manager knows there are many tough games ahead, starting with Berkhamsted Town at home tomorrow (3pm) and a derby at Malvern Town on Monday.

"It was a great result for us, we are very pleased," West said. "Without getting too carried away, there are a lot of positives but still a lot of work to be done.

"I don't particularly get too excited about other teams. Berkhamsted are a bit of an unknown quantity but we will concentrate on what we have got to do."

West was delighted with his team's display against Sutton Coldfield but singled out the efforts of his two strikers for particular praise.

Mark Owen scored twice on his old Worcester City stomping ground, while Richard Ball was also on target in the victory.

West said: "I was delighted with Mark and Richard, both are prolific centre-forwards and at times they were a handful. If those two carry on in that vein then that will be very pleasing.

"Defensively, we haven't played as a unit so it was nice to see that certain areas were right.

"We are just delighted to play at such a nice ground. It was an honour and a privilege to play on such an oustanding pitch."

Steve Hands and Steve Luckett, who scored United's other goal against Sutton Coldfield, sustained groin and calf injuries respectively in mid-week but are expected to be fit for the weekend.

Nathan Jukes and Dean Wellington will also be back in the squad.
