MALVERN Town manager Paul Molloy is hoping his side can continue their impressive start to the season with a trip to Spalding tomorrow (3pm).

Molloy watched his side win 1-0 at Chasetown on Tuesday after drawing their first game in Southern League division one midlands 2-2 with Leighton Town last weekend.

Now he takes his players on the long trek to Lincolnshire looking for their second away success.

He said: "It was a good result on Tuesday. We played really well and had the clear-cut chances in the first-half.

"But they came at us in the second-half and we defended superbly.

"I am delighted with that start."

Manager Molloy will be without defenders Tom Sterny (knee) and Andy Cartwright (hamstring) for the visit to Spalding.

Centre-half Wesley Joyce is also a doubt after sustaining a rib injury in the victory at Chasetown, given to Malvern courtesy of Dean Roberts' header.

However, centre-forward Tom Hobbs returns to the squad after a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The coach for tomorrow's trip to Spalding leaves Langland Stadium at 9.45am and picks up at the Three Pears by 10.30am.

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove Rovers have only shown glimpses of their form in their first two games, according to assistant manager John Snape.

Snape, in charge while manager Rod Brown is on holiday, has featured in both of Rovers' wins against Sutton Coldfield Town and Rushall Olympic.

Nathan Lamey scored twice as Rovers won 2-1 at Sutton Coldfield on the opening day of the campaign before defender Chris McHale bagged a brace in the 3-1 home win against Rushall in mid-week.

But despite their 100 per cent start to the Southern League division one midlands season, Snape thinks the team needs to play better for longer spells.

"We are playing well in patches at the minute. If we can sustain that a bit longer then I think we will have had a very good start.

"It was quite a physical game against Rushall on Tuesday. We probably could have won it in the first 20 minutes but, to be fair to them, they deserved to get back in the game. But when we played well we were head and shoulders above them.

"You can't do better than two wins. The squad have taken to the challenge well."

But Snape is expecting a rough ride when Rothwell Town visit the Victoria Ground tomorrow (3pm).

"Rothwell will be a difficult game, they will be a tough challenge," he said. "We are definitely looking to put points on the board, especially over the bank holiday period."

New signing Paul Carty is a slight doubt for the Rothwell clash after tweaking his hamstring in the Rushall victory.

Riad Erraji is also doubtful after jarring his knee.

Snape added: "Some of the players are not happy because they are not playing but the squad is together and the spirit is good."

Stourport Swifts manager Roy Rencher is cursing his side's success in front of goal after a disappointing start to the season.

Rencher's side lost 1-0 at home to Spalding last Saturday and squandered a hatful of chances in a 3-1 defeat at Cinderford in mid-week.

"I was really gutted to be honest," Rencher said. "We are creating so many chances and just not taking them. We should have been four up at half-time and turned around 1-1.

"We had two or three chances to put the game out of their reach in the first-half. I am really disappointed and angry that we can't turn our possession into goals.

"We are putting pressure on ourselves because we are not scoring goals."

Rencher, currently in the transfer market looking to solve the problem, takes his team to Bedworth United tomorrow (3pm).

He said: "There will be changes, that's for sure. I am going to make a change up front and we might change the system as well.

"We are still looking for a big striker, somebody who's going to hold it up and put himself about a bit, but everyone is looking for that player."

The manager, though, is pleased with Swifts' overall performance and is confident that victory won't be far away.

"It will come," he said. "I am really pleased with the way we are playing but we are still looking for that result. It's tough at the moment, we know we are under pressure. You are only going to get out of this game what you put in."

Mark Hands will definitely feature tomorrow after a knee injury, while new striker Craig Marshall from Hednesford is in contention to start up front.

Former Mansfield 'keeper Michael Langford could also play a part.
