WORCESTER City manager Andy Preece is still hopeful of adding to his injury-hit squad in the near future.

The City boss has been working overtime since the start of the season in a bid to provide cover for the likes of Adam Webster, Mark Danks, Justin Thompson, Tom Warmer and James Coates.

He was successful in securing a one-off loan deal for former Worcester youngster Sam Wedgbury for the Nuneaton Borough game and has also brought in midfielder Adrian Harper on a short-term basis.

Former City player Paul Carty has signed as emergency cover but he tweaked a hamstring in Bromsgrove's 3-1 victory over Rushall on Tuesday.

Preece, who doesn't have the pressure of a transfer deadline to contend with, has also been boosted with the comeback of Canadian defender Thompson and the return to fitness of striker Danks.

Thompson played 90 minutes in the 2-0 win at Worksop in mid-week, while Danks ap-peared as a late substitute.

But Webster, who is due to learn the results of his ankle scan today, is almost certainly a long-term casualty.

Preece, who takes his side to Gainsborough tomorrow be-fore Monday's visit of Alfreton Town, said: "We have been looking to bring in one or two players but nothing has progressed yet. We are looking to build on our good start.

"We are probably going to use the squad over the bank holiday period. I think it will have been six games in 16 days after Monday, which is ridiculous. I don't think that's very good planning but it is the same for everyone."

That means City are likely to start with the same side that won at Worksop but right wing-back Jay Sztybel and defender Shabir Kahn may get a run-out either tomorrow or Monday.
