NOT even a recent chest infection could stop the prolific Adam Hart winning Worcester St John’s Cycling Club's Broadheath 10-mile time trial.

Hart timed 21 minutes 46 seconds on two laps of the course with 49 riders taking part on a fine evening.

Rob Nicholls was 12 seconds back in second place with 21.58 and the ever-improving Matt Sheppard did 22.14, while Mark Corbett managed a personal best for fourth place.

Saints riders competed in the Sevale 10-miler at Severn Stoke and Hart starred for the club with 21.30.

Hart was just 12 seconds slower than Wyre Forest’s Phil Blacker, who he beat the week before by the same margin.

Nicholls clocked 22.12 and Ed Dursley 23.43. Four Saints riders competed in the Worcester St John’s 64-mile Sportif run by St Richard’s Hospice.

Dave Walker, Richard Graham, James Parker and Scott Latham stayed together with an Echelon rider all the way round.

The route went through country lanes to Broadway and back.

They took three hours 20 minutes to do the route and were the first back of 49.

Meanwhile, 28 riders took part in Wyre Forest CC’s hilly 14-mile time trial with St John’s member Sheppard coming in fourth, one minute 11 seconds after winner Mark Hammond (Stourbridge Velo). After a slow start on the road from the start at Arley to the Hundred House, Sheppard got up to speed on the leg through Great Witley towards Holt Heath.

He caught a rider starting three minutes before him at half-way before turning onto the hardest part of the course leading back to Arley from Holt Heath.

Powering up the steepest hills, the Worcester rider gleaned an important second from Echelon-Rotor rider David Barnes.

Fellow St John’s competitor Steve Price was an impressive sixth after only recently returning to the discipline and Vince Page (Team Echelon-Rotor) finished 10th.
