MATT Mason has been rewarded for his bowling bonanza during August with Worcestershire's Rock Lobster player-of-the-month award.

The accolade was presented during the County Championship clash with Essex.

Mason has impressed everyone with the ball over recent weeks, most notably picking up a staggering personal best of 8-45 against Gloucestershire.

The fast-medium bowler and WCCC programme columnist steamed ahead to earn 25 points -- nine points clear of Daryl Mitchell in second place.

A total of five Rock Lobster presentations are made throughout the season.

The final one is awarded on September 16 and points are awarded by members of the Press who cover all the County's matches, being allocated according to individual performance.

The leading player in County Championship matches receives 10 points, the second six and third four.

In all other matches, the winner receives five points, the second three and third one with the monthly winner being the player with the highest total.
