Worcester Wolves director of basketball Paul James says that he hopes to be in a position to announce several signings next week.

The University of Worcester-based British League outfit have only confirmed one player will be returning to the club for the new campaign, which begins on October 1 — England international forward David Watts.

However, James, who has promised new faces for the forthcoming season, says that he will be in a position to to add to his squad of players over the coming days.

“As we missed out on the play-offs last season it would be churlish to go with the same squad this year,” James said.

“I’m waiting on contracts for a number of players and hopefully we can make some announcements next week.

“The aim is to make sure that Worcester Wolves reach the play-offs year-on-year and hopefully, with the squad I’m aiming to put together, we will be able to do that.”

With the new BBL campaign not starting until October, James says that his players will return for pre-season training in September.

“Although the new season is starting later this year, our pre-season preparations will be longer and hopefully that will hold us in good stead,” the Wolves director of basketball added.
