FORMER Worcester Warriors flanker James Collins’ proposed move to Sale Sharks has fallen through.
Extensive medical screening has revealed that the 25-year-old ex-Sixways academy product has not recovered from a previous injury.
Subsequently, Collins has not been able to start pre-season training and it was felt that his prospects of making a start were some way off.
Sale Sharks’ executive director of sport Steve Diamond said: “It’s a big disappointment for James and for Sale Sharks but we have to consider the player’s welfare. We wish him well in his future career.”
Chief Executive Mick Hogan added: “We are sorry that this situation has arisen and extend to James our best wishes for his long-term future.”
Collins struggled for game time while with Warriors and fell behind fellow youngsters Matt Kvesic and Jake Abbott in the pecking order. he was told in March that his Warriors contract would not be renewed.
