KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are disappointed a request to play Telford United over the Christmas and New Year period was ignored by the Conference.

Harriers had asked to take on the newly-promoted Bucks in back-to-back matches on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

However, they will instead host Forest Green Rovers at Aggborough on Boxing Day and visit the Gloucestershire club on January 1, 2012.

Two fixtures in a week against Telford, who travel with a large away following, could have significantly swelled Harriers’ coffers during the festive period.

Chairman Mark Serrell said: “We filled in a form and put on it our preference for Christmas. It was Telford’s choice as well.

“But you can’t always get what you want and we’ll have to get on with it.

“It may sound like a cliche, but every game is a big match, especially when you’re going for promotion.

“If we are where we want to be at the finish of the season, then we’ll have some important clashes with Newport and Mansfield at the end.”

Harriers missed out on the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs by six points last season, during which they were also deducted five points for a breach of financial reporting rules.

Former Harriers striker Lee Morris has joined Blue Square Bet North outfit Eastwood Town.
