AS the new English football season got underway over the weekend a recent survey has shown just how much it costs for a day out watching our national game.
It can cost as much as £100 to watch Premier League giants Arsenal, but luckily for football followers in the West Midlands it doesn’t cost anywhere near as much.
The cheapest you can go and see Birmingham City, with a cup of tea, a pie and a programme will set you back £23.40.
But that is not top-flight football.
To watch one of the West Midlands’ Premier League teams it will cost you from £28 at Wolverhampton Wanderers to £33.10 at West Brom, while a trip to Aston Villa will set you back £29.10.
Yet if you were to go and watch Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership this season the cheapest deal you can get for ticket, tea, pie and a programme is £23. Sounds appealing, doesn’t it?
So what have football and rugby days out got to do with cricket?
Well, should you want a day out at the cricket with a scorecard, tea and a baguette, then you’ll be paying £19.40 for a Clydesdale Bank 40 match or £15.40 for one day at a LV= County Championship.
Yes, you will have to pay extra if you don’t book in advance, but it still works out cheaper than football and rugby!
