WORCESTERSHIRE County Council’s staff golf society held an inter-counties tournament at Kings Norton Golf Club and raised £1,227 for St Richard’s Hospice.
They were competing against six other county councils, with the team from Nottinghamshire taking the overall title.
The WCC team was made up of Clive Werrett, Brian Hancock, Andy Baker, Geoff Roberts, Lin McCoy, Audrey Sidwell, Ian Pearson and Dave Bessant.
Society secretary Pearson said “It is a significant exercise to put all the pieces together for an event like this and it is only with the assistance of the group that all of these pieces fall into place.
“It was a pleasure to be able to take our turn to implement this event in the manner that it has been intended for almost 50 years and to see the willingness of many parties to give up their own time and to support the event with their own funds on the day.”
He added: “The offer from Corelogic to underwrite the cost of the event publication ensured that all advertising revenue could be directed to the St Richard’s along with the proceeds of the raffle and auction.
“Donations of items from multiple sources, including golf vouchers from local clubs, served to ensure that all aspects made a worthwhile contribution to the fundraising effort.
“A very big thank you to everyone concerned.”
