MIKE Symons says he is looking forward to being reunited with fellow hot-shot Lee Smith at Worcester City.

City’s seven-goal leading marksman is no stranger to the latest addition to the St George’s Lane squad having played with fellow striker Smith at both Gloucester City and Cirencester.

Now, following Smith’s arrival from Blue Square Bet North rivals Nuneaton Town, the pair are set to terrorise defences once again.

“I have played with Lee earlier in my career at Cirencester and Gloucester for a couple of years when we got promoted,” Symons said.

“Now he’s come to Worcester and I am looking forward to linking up with him again.

“I had a text off him saying I might have a new travelling partner and that was the first time I heard about it.

“He’s a proven goalscorer at this level, works hard for the team and can cause problems for opponents. He will bring a lot to the team.”

As well as Symons and Smith, City also have Luke Corbett, Danny Carey-Bertram, Marc McGregor and Michael Taylor on their books.

“We have got strength in depth with a lot of players and it gives Carl Heeley plenty of choice,” Symons added.

“We have got a good strike force and hopefully we can continue to score goals.”

Symons has scored in each of his last two games and will be aiming to continue that sequence in today’s FA Cup second qualifying round clash at Godalming Town.

He is aware of the pitfalls of facing a lower-ranked side but expects Worcester to emerge.

The striker added: “They are below us but it’s the FA Cup and they are going to be up for it. We need to make sure we go there in a professional way.

“It’s a potential banana skin but if we play our game we should win.”
