OMBERSLEY Golf Club celebrated 20 years in operation with an anniversary golf day and evening presentation.
Directors’ Robert Dowty, Nigel Dowty and Laureen Moyse welcomed more than 100 entrants to compete in mixed teams.
The event was followed by a buffet meal, before guest speaker Peter McGovern had the audience in stitches with some great golfing stories.
General manager and head professional Graham Glenister said: “Having been here for all 20 years, I am very proud to be part of a club which has gone from strength to strength during some difficult times both for the sport and the economy.
“We work very hard at Ombersley to promote a friendly and welcoming environment, while introducing newcomers to the fine traditions associated with golf.
“So much credit must go to course manager Andrew Halfpenny, who worked for the Dowty family before they switched from farmland to fairways.”
Photographs displayed in the clubhouse showed the ever-changing shape of the golf course.
Winners Sandra Pomeroy, John Hannah, Mike Kriese and Phil Pomeroy were each presented with a round of golf at The Celtic Manor Resort, while runners-up Pauline Smith, Martyn Taylor, Brendan Hele and Mark Drew will enjoy a hospitality day at Hereford Races.
Results: 1 Sandra Pomeroy, Phil Pomeroy, Hannah and Kriese; 2 Smith, Taylor, Hele and Drew.
Nearest the pin (fifth hole): Ian Smith.
Nearest the pin in two (15th): David Auden.
