WORCESTERSHIRE Grasstrack Club ended their season with a touching tribute to John Webb.

During the interval, all officials and riders walked on the circuit and were joined by spectators in one minute of hand-clapping to celebrate the life of their Worcester-based former president and chairman who died after a car accident aged 69.

British Masters champion Andrew Appleton won at Cladswell Hall Farm, Cookhill, near Inkberrow, in the 500cc experts solos.

Evesham’s Tim Nobes, nicknamed the Cotswold Express, enjoyed two wins and a second to Appleton before finishing third in the final.

Great Britain international speedway star Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris made a guest appearance on borrowed machines to delight fans.

He suffered a blown engine in practice before picking up a third and second place.

Harland Cook swept the board with all four ride wins in both the 250cc and 350cc and was followed over the line by under 18s champion Danny Boyle in the former.

The 1,000cc righthand sidecar contest was dominated by Mark Cossar and Carl Blyth who won all three rides and the meeting final to retain their Buildbase Championship title. The 500cc series winner was the prolific David Howe.
