LAUREN Shilvock’s second-half goal was enough to give Stourport women the derby honours over Worcester in the Midland Premier League.

In a hard-fought encounter, which saw two Stourport players and one from Worcester yellow-carded, both defences had to be on their mettle.

The battle in midfield was equally intense with Sunny Ricketts and Cheryl Vinson shining for the visitors, while Georgi Burns, Lora Symonds, Sophie Harris, Rene Johnson, Sade Gerald and Sarah Cavendish impressed for Stourport.

The hosts forced a number of short corners in the second period and the pressure eventually told when player-of-the-match Shilvock fired Stourport to their first win of the season.

In the second match of the series in the championship, Worcester played out a goalless draw with their hosts Lichfield.
