EVESHAM Golf Club’s men’s section rounded off their season with finals day.
The finalists in The Frogmore, the singles scratch competition, were nine-handicapper Paul Callaghan and current club champion and scratch golfer Oliver Farrell.
After the turn, Farrell went up a gear to win the match on the 15th, being four up with three to play.
The Byrd is the handicap singles competition and the finalists in this event were Trevor Woodward (nine) and Gavin Griffiths (14). Despite giving away five shots, Woodward managed to come out on top with a 2&1 victory.
First round losers in the Byrd enter the Alan Wood Plate where Paul Sharpe (nine) beat Gerry Ricketts (11) 4&3 in the final.
In the Veterans’ Cup, George Parker (15) beat Roger Smith (20) 2&1. In the Long Handicap Competition, for 18-handicappers and above when the event starts, Andrew Dauncey (21) beat Alex Clasen (11) 4&3. Clasen has had an excellent season that saw his handicap fall to 11.
In the Canada Cups, the pairs better-ball competition, Paul and Mike Callaghan gave Griffiths and Russ Leeming (17) little chance in an 8&7 thrashing.
Steve Wood (seven) and Pete Stanley (12) beat vice-captain Colin Cleary (10) and immediate-past captain Barrie Saggers (10) 3&2 in the Ward Bekker foursomes.
The trophies will be presented by captain Richard Cross at the presentation dinner on Friday, November 25.
