RICHARD Hill will be digging around in his bin for the list of available back-rowers after seeing his Warriors injury crisis worsen during the 15-9 Aviva Premiership defeat to Exeter Chiefs.

The Worcester head coach, who is poised to announce a new back-row signing this week after being forced to bring in reinforcements due to injuries to Kai Horstmann, Neil Best and Adam Balding, has admitted he will require further resources after Matt Kvesic joined the list of wounded players.

The England under 20s star was stretchered off at Sandy Park with what looked like a serious injury to his left leg just 15 minutes into the game.

While the initial prognosis is better than what at first glance seemed to be a terrible injury, Hill believes the youngster may have broken a small bone in his leg and could be sidelined for around six weeks.

Hill said: “We have now only got two back-row players left in Jake Abbott and Sam Betty, the rest are in the treatment room.

“We are in a mini-crisis at the moment.

“I did say that we could just about cope by putting Chris Jones at number eight but, after the bad luck to Matt, I am going to have to find another back row.

“I had a list of available players and, after I’d picked one, I threw the list in the bin but I am going to have to find where I put it now!

“It’s not easy, but it is an absolute necessity now. The early part of this week I am going to have to find another back row.”

On the deal already agreed with a new player, Hill added: “I understand we are further down the line with that signing, I can’t really commit myself to that as it is not all signed and sealed. But, as a result of Saturday, I will need to get another one in too.

“We are lucky that we have some great opensides at the club. Jake did well and put a lot of pressure on at the breakdown when he came on.

“He forced some turnovers and carried a lot of ball, he took a few bashes and looks a bit of a state now.”
