SAMOAN international back-rower Ezra Taylor is poised to make his Worcester Warriors debut in the New Year’s Day crunch clash at Wasps.

Warriors had hoped the former Connacht forward would have been involved against Leicester, but a paperwork delay meant he wasn’t registered in time.

However, following the 32-13 home defeat against Tigers, Worcester head coach Richard Hill is now preparing to unleash his new man at Adams Park.

The Sixways chief also revealed Fijian centre Ravai Fatiaki, who came off the bench against Leicester for his first Warriors appearance, is set for more game time this weekend.

Hill said: “We will put out our best available side against Wasps and almost certainly Ezra will come into it. Perhaps we need to see very quickly what he is like and also give Ravai more of a run. These new players coming in have got to show what they can do.

“I thought Ravai did OK against Leicester, he didn’t make any errors, held some difficult ball and he retained it well and made some good tackles. He had 20 minutes to come into a difficult game, but first impressions were very good.”

Hill admitted he was bitterly disappointed with the mauling by Tigers, suggesting he felt his players could have given more to the cause. Because of that, the former England scrum-half is planning to shuffle his pack somewhat for the trip to Wasps.

He explained: “We may look at one or two selection changes for Wasps. Maybe some players in the front five for the people who have had a fair old game against Leicester, but physically we are not too bad.

“That is not a good thing, though, because we should have been crawling off the field, but when I watched them come off they were not.”
